Word Games

For some reason, the last week or so, I’ve had an itch to game on my iPhone. I’ve picked up a couple of the higher rated games: Fieldrunners, Samurai Puzzle Battle, and Rolando. They’re all great games. However, the game that has captured my mind is Wurdle.

It’s iPhone Boggle time! Does “Quijibo” Count?

The things I like about Wurdle: it’s quick to play, can be played one-handed, and it stimulates my brain, at least the Scrabble lobes of it.

Do not think the hook into Scrabble is unimportant. Wurdle uses the official Scrabble word list to judge words in the game so I feel like, by playing, I am improving my Scrabble-ability. This in turn is important because my Grandmother is a Scrabble fiend and I need my Scrabble-ness honed to a razor sharp edge to be her match in those alphabetic scrums.

All of this combines to form a perfect storm of short, quick bursts of fun that work so well I find myself wasting long bursts of time trying to beat my latest high score. Of course, my high score doesn’t compare to what’s sitting at the top of the online leaderboards but I’m trying. Again and again and again. At least I’m working out my three-letter qu words.
