Web Designer and Developer, Tech Writer, and General Man About Town
Over my career, I’ve done a number of different things, from managing retail to working as a landman for an energy company. However, over the past seven years or so, I’ve concentrated on the fields I’ve enjoyed the most: technical writing and web development.
Web Work
I’m a classic “jack of all trades, master of none” type person. I’m not a guru in any particular technology. However, to my advantage, I’m not married to any particular technology either. I can move between them, change from one to the other, adapt as the need arises.
It’s just a tool box, you pick the tool for the job.
- Sam (Robert Deniro), Ronin
That’s my essential philosophy: use whatever tools that are in the toolbox to get the job done. Whether it’s PHP, ASP, JSP, javascript, whatever web technology in hand, I can get done what needs to get done.
Paperback Writer
My other love and probably my favorite is writing. Professionally, I’ve written product manuals, training materials, and marketing copy. I’ve not only written the content but typeset it as well, using both Quark and InDesign.
Communication is one of my strong suits, whether verbal or via the written word and I can transcribe, distill, and translate ideas from the insubstantial ether to paper and ink (or the electronic versions thereof).
